Case File #324895
It's an Annual Event

The owner of a 1999 Case backhoe discovered his equipment missing from the Chicago job site where it was supposed to be. He knew exactly what to do, as the backhoe had been stolen and returned (with the help of LoJack) the year before. When he reported the theft to the Chicago Police Department, the hidden LoJack unit on the backhoe was automatically activated. Within hours, a tactical unit pulled over a truck carrying the stolen backhoe. The driver of the truck was arrested and gave information that cleared up a string of thefts. For the second time in a year, the owner of the backhoe got it back thanks to LoJack and the Chicago Police Department.

By the Way, Your Loader Was Stolen

The operator of a 1998 John Deere loader/backhoe discovered his backhoe was missing from the construction site and informed the Orlando (Florida) Police Department. When the report was put into the computer the hidden LoJack was activated automatically. Within minutes, a Volusia County Sheriff's Department deputy tracked the LoJack signal to a fenced-in area, and the abandoned equipment was recovered undamaged, along with other vehicles, including another Caterpillar loader, and police contacted its owner. To the amazement of the second Caterpillar owner, his equipment was found without his ever reporting it stolen.

They Were Starting a Backhoe Collection

The superintendent of a construction company arrived at his job site and discovered a 1999 Case backhoe 580 Super L was missing. He checked with the office to see if the equipment had been moved to another site. It hadn't. He contacted the Canton Township (Michigan) Police Department and reported the theft, which activated the hidden LoJack system. Officers from the Down River Auto Theft Task Force picked up the LoJack signal and tracked it to a new home construction site where it was parked behind another piece of heavy equipment. The backhoe was returned in excellent condition and immediately was put to work on the job it was hired for.
